School Wood type poster design

Wood Type project for Design culture

For the first semester Design Culture course I choose to explore the history of Wood Type as one of my course projects. The requirement was a poster on the history of wood type in printing, which I accompanied with a book containing both the supporting research and an exammple of wood type I was able to purchase from a letterpress supply store.

School Typeface & book design

Typeface book for Typography 3

In our third semester of Typography, we were tasked with creating a typeface based on an era of style, and to produce a specimen book to accompany the lettering. I choose to explore the mid-century modern style, and researched typefaces by Adrian Frutiger. I created both the upper and lower case letters, as well as numbers, which I packaged as an Opentype font file.

School Information design

TTC project for Information Design

In the Information Design first semester we produced two projects—a solo transit project and the two zoo or olympics project. For the transit project, I focused on a rebrand and redesign of the wayfinding, signage and information design within the Toronto transit system.

School Editorial design

Travel guide for Editorial Design

In the Information Design first semester we produced two projects—a solo transit project and the two zoo or olympics project. For the transit project, I focused on a rebrand and redesign of the wayfinding, signage and information design within the Toronto transit system.

The final product was spiral bound and featured covers which folded out to reveal pop-up maps. Inside pages included day planners for tackling different themes and neighbourhoods, and the opening spread for that section would include inset maps.

For my final design thesis project, I created a resource to help student newspapers with design. I had found through my own experience in the student press and voluteering with the Canadian University Press that high turn over meant student papers would struggle with passing on design and product knowledge. So I crafted several resources including writing the book Requires Assembly to give papers a reference guide. The final book was printed ondemand for the project delivery, and eventually a short press run ensured Canadian student newspapers had the book.
